BONICA F1 is considered by many to be the leading eggplant hybrid with beautifull medium large oval shaped fruit. Fruitsize is about 600 gram and the colour is a very attractive, very dark and shiney violet.

The strong plants produce many fruits, starting about ten weeks after planting, depending on local circumstances.

For best results grow BONICA F1 under glass, in tunnels or under plastic and culture in the open air is only recommended in warmer climates.

The fruitweight is also determined by the size of the plant and the number of fruits on the plant that is at the same time in development.

The plant has a good overall disease tolerance and is an asset to any breeder.

Eggplants earn much more interest to the general public for the wonderful fruits which are not only a compliment in a nice basket of fruit but mostly surprisingly tasty grilled, baked or fried.

If you still want to grow aubergines /eggplant outside then in Western Europe always first sowing, 2nd half of April, at a temperature of about 24 degrees C. After emergence from the seeds the minimum temperature can be lowered to 20 degrees Celsius.

Depending on the weather development in the spring, the plants can go outside in late May or early June. Obviously a nice summer gives the best results.

Any abnormal fruit should be removed as soon as discoverred and as small as possible.

Minor damage to the fruit while working in the crop wil result in lower quality in of the final fruit.
